Spring Shades in Natural Fibre with a Slubby Weave

Hello, Sewing Friend!

New springtime shades of Spool of Thread's Cascade Stonewashed Slub collection just arrived! They are made from 100% Ramie fibre, a stunning fabric derived from a plant in the nettle family. It is highly sustainable and completely biodegradable so you can feel extra good wearing it. It's known for strong fibers, stain resistance and is less prone to shrinkage.

To make Ramie, manufacturers use a similar process for turning flax into linen, as they do to turn the nettle plant into Ramie fabric. Similar to linen, once harvested, uneven sized fibres are woven together to create Ramie and this gives the fabric weave interesting depth and texture.

Wanting to learn more about our new Cascade Stonewashed Ramie Slub? We've rounded up even more Ramie facts including more about it's beautiful weight and drape, and photos of the weave.
