There's always a little extra thrill when a shipment of new fabric arrives. When our latest group, Saturna Linen, arrived the receiving team was so excited to have fabric that combines two of your favourites - a fresh take on classic stripes and linen!
For those of you that have sewn with linen before, then you know the love. If you haven't worked with linen, let us share with you our secret joy when it comes to this great fabric.
Linen is created from an all natural fibre that is more absorbent and dries more quickly than cotton. This means that it's great for breathability and keeping you cool and comfortable all day long. Linen has a beautiful natural texture and feeling. When picking a pattern keep this in mind, and you'll have a garment you'll wear for years!
Saturna is a low drape, medium weight linen. Compared to our much loved Ellis Washed Linen, Saturna has less drape and a slightly lighter weight.
What does low drape mean? It means it will hang out from your body, instead of near your body. Low drape fabric won't naturally highlight your shape, so it works best with garments that have shaping in the design.
