Essex Cotton-Linen Versus Cotton-Linen Canvas

Essex Cotton-Linen Versus Cotton-Linen Canvas

Our new Essex cotton-linen canvas has arrived! This blend is both breathable and durable, making it a great choice for your spring sewing projects. With its full-bodied drape and beautiful woven texture, we think it’s the perfect weight for sewing up some more structured garments.

For those already familiar with our lighter-weight Essex cotton-linen blend, we thought we could describe the difference using some fun project examples.

As soon as we unpacked the Essex Cotton-Linen Canvas, we thought of the Jenny Overalls from Closet Case. A modern interpretation of classic overalls, the cotton-linen canvas will provide the ideal structure for this vintage inspired work-wear. Combined with wide leg trousers and ultra-high rise, this structured garment will give you all-day-long comfort.

However, if you prefer your overalls to be more flowy and feminine, perhaps the Burnside Bibs from Sew House Seven are more your style. The softer silhouette and back waist gathers is a great match for our lighter-weight Essex cotton-linen blend. Not your traditional work overalls, these are a must for those who enjoy comfort and sophistication.

Whichever your style, we think both of these projects fit the season as we start venturing outdoors again, whether that be working in the garden or relaxing in the park with friends. Hopefully these examples have got your creative juices flowing for your next sewing project. We can’t wait to see what you make!
